Position Profile: The Child and Adolescent Health Service are seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join the Medical Technology Management Unit as a Senior Technician - Electro Mechanical.

The successful candidate will provide an efficient, effective, and timely service in relation to the implementation, repair, maintenance, quality assurance and construction of biomedical equipment (medical and scientific) and systems, in order to satisfy the quality and service delivery objectives of the Department, the Hospital and its customers.

The position requires minimal technical supervision and is available to participate in the Departments emergency call back and rostered after-hours service to the health service (incl. critical care, emergency and disaster response).

Reporting to the Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include: 

  • Providing maintenance, repair, quality assurance and performance testing on specialised electro medical and scientific equipment and instruments.
  • Maintaining appropriate contemporary knowledge of (i) relevant biomedical equipment, including the application of computer-based systems to fault diagnosis; (ii) bacterial contamination hazards; (iii) sterilising procedures and; (iv) ionising, laser radiation and other hazards as identified or advised.
  • Participating in clinical research, evaluation and procurement activities.
  • Providing mentoring and advanced training support to new technical staff.
