The Department of Transport and Planning is delivering a $17 million program of work over two years to significantly enhance customer information for public transport. This includes richer digital wayfinding, improved consistency and quality of real-time information, clearer communications during disruptions and information available through more channels. About the Role


Fixed Term - Full Time - until 1/01/2025


The Senior Test Lead will develop the strategic overview and high-level plan for testing disciplines and methodology for the public transport real-time program. Working across the greater program team this role will lead testing quality assurance over this significant and complex project. This includes planning, management, co-ordination of test execution, and reporting for the delivery of a quality solution. The role will manage the project testing tasks across the end-to-end testing lifecycle whilst providing direction, leadership and guidance to the Test Team. This role will lead the continuous improvement and apply best practice testing services to meet business needs. In addition, this role will be hands-on to assist with test execution for the delivery of end-to-end solution to support the development and implementation in line with the business and technical requirements.

The ideal candidate should possess advanced data literacy skills, demonstrating expertise in data collection, analysis, and visualization for immediate and predictive decision-making. Additionally, they should excel in critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication, with a focus on systems thinking and a future-oriented mindset, while embodying personal attributes such as flexibility and resilience.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities

Developed the overarching test plan including the manual and automated test framework covering key tasks, dependencies and resources required for both seamless delivery and stakeholder confidence.
Established and overseen the test program implementation directing the required testing methods and procedures for the project.
Managed the quality aspects of testing work and provide peer review of the testing artefacts produced by others in the project team.
Lead the defect management including tracking and verifying defects logged to ensure information quality and completeness process. Ensure this process includes the project team, business and operator stakeholders.
Lead the development of project documentation and provided regular updates to the project team through project schedules and status reporting to key stakeholders, senior management and project staff where required.
Connected with technical and non-technical audiences to coordinate user acceptance testing.
Promoted and supported safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.


Qualifications and Experience


Mandatory

• Professional level qualification (certified ISTQB) or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of testing theory, methods, techniques and tools, and proven experience of system testing, system integration testing and UAT.
• Strong background in developing test frameworks, estimations techniques and quality gates
• Extensive experience in leading the testing deliverables on significant and complex projects.
• Experience working in agile and traditional environments.

Desirable

• Bachelor's degree in the relevant field
