About The Role:

The Senior Training Coordinator reports to the Health and Safety Superintendent-Binduli. It is expected that the position will have a direct advisory and interactive role with the Processing team and other support services. The position is also responsible for ensuring training and safety procedures are compliant to national, corporate and legislative standards and the implementation of a skills-based program whilst ensuring a safe productive operation.

Key Tasks Include:

•   Ensure that all individuals at the Binduli Processing Plant, including employees, management, contractors, and visitors, are well-informed and compliant with their health and safety obligations, policies, and procedures.

•   Maintain a relevant and up to date induction and appropriate training programs for all personnel at the Binduli Processing Plant.

•   Provide expert advice to internal stakeholders on legal obligations, safety policies, systems, and procedures, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.

•   Develop, approve, and submit all relevant reports, documentation, and plans to meet legislative and government requirements pertaining to health and safety.

•   Collaborate with the Health & Safety Superintendent-Binduli to thoroughly investigate workplace incidents and injuries. Offer actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence, with a specific focus on reducing costs associated with workplace injuries and workers' compensation claims through training solutions.

•   Assist with the development, implementation and review of Health and Safety policies, procedures and risk management plans, keeping them aligned with industry standards.

•   Continually monitor and manage training requirements of all operators to ensure skills are up to date and compliant with safety standards.

•   Maintain detailed and accurate record keeping of all training, inductions and assessments conducted, along with any other relevant documents where required.

•   Collaborate in designing proactive safety plans to control hazards identified through workplace safety audits, training assessments, and other safety initiatives.

•   Provide assistance to fellow trainers in other departments as required. 

•   Identify, monitor, and manage various types of risks, including biological, chemical, physical, ergonomic, and psychosocial, to ensure the safety of the Binduli Processing Plant's operations.

•    Any other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Recognised qualification in safety-related discipline (Post graduate qualifications, desirable).
  • Current Cert IV in Training and Assessing (Minimum)
  • Current unencumbered C Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.

Skills and Experience: 

WORK KNOWLEDGE:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Training role with a minimum of 2 years exposure to a Processing Plant (Gold Mining exposure desirable)
  • Experience with project work and time management.
  • Thorough knowledge of all relevant State and Federal legislation relevant to Mining Operations in Western Australia.
  • Excellent understanding of applicable 
  • Health & Safety and training standards and codes or practice. 
  • Demonstrated high level of experience in the application of Health and Safety legislation relevant to processing practices. 
     

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Highly competent with demonstrated skills in spreadsheet and presentation applications, work processing and database applications. 
  • Competent with HSE-related software (Cintellate, Chemalert, etc).
