Senior Wall and Floor Tiler (Supervisor)

Surface Preparation:

• Placement of sand and cement screeds, concrete slabs, floor levellers.
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and smoothing to ensure a suitable base for tile installation.
• Perform screeding and leveling of concrete pours to achieve precise and even surfaces for tiling and ensuring adequate falls.2.

Tile Installation:

• Install tiles on concrete walls, floors, and other surfaces using adhesive, grout, and other necessary materials.
• Install stair nosings and bullnose tiles, including coping.
• Apply knowledge of concrete construction techniques to ensure proper substrate installation, preparation and support for tiling, and a smooth finish.3.

Quality Assurance:

• Inspect and ensure the quality of finished installations on concrete surfaces, addressing any imperfections or defects promptly.
• Verify that tiles are aligned correctly and are evenly spaced, paying special attention to the unique challenges posed by concrete construction in train stations and other public works environments.4.

Material Handling:

• Manage and organize tile and other construction inventory, including ordering supplies as needed.
• Safely handle and transport tiles and related materials to and from work sites, considering the additional considerations in working with concrete substrates where grinding, placement, leveling and falls are concerned.5.

Cost Estimation and Resource Allocation:

• Formulate accurate cost estimates for tiling projects, incorporating materials, labour, and other relevant expenses for the preparation and delivery of projects.
• Efficiently allocate resources, including manpower and equipment, to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.6.

Team Management:

• Lead and manage a team of tile installers, floor screed and levellers, concreters and after works handover teams providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
• Coordinate team activities, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.7.

Construction Management:

• Oversee the construction of concrete floors and walls, managing the entire process from planning to completion.
• Work with and oversee tiling works for all tile installations including station platforms, wet areas, common area and pavers.
• Collaborate with other trades to ensure cohesive and well-executed projects.8.

Collaboration:

• Coordinate with other trades and stake holders, project managers and site engineers, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Communicate effectively with clients to understand their requirements and preferences in the context of tiling installations and layouts, decorative finishes and concrete floor and wall construction.

Proven experience as a Wall and Floor Tiler with a Cert 3 in tiling, with a focus on tiling that is installed on floor and wall construction involving concrete substrates.2. Strong knowledge of tile installation techniques and materials, particularly in the context of concrete substrates in public infrastructure, train stations and common use areas.3. Proficient in using tile cutting tools and equipment, including power tools and Expertise in screeding and leveling of sand and cement screeds, floor levellers and concrete pours.5.

Experience in delivering the construction of concrete floors and walls.6. Attention to detail and precision in work.7. Ability to interpret and follow drawings, layouts and design specifications and finish requirements.8.
