The Kimberley Sexual Abuse Prevention & Support Service (KSAPSS) delivers support and activities to children, young people, adult victims and survivors of Sexual Abuse or sexual assault. KSAPPS receives referrals from the Kimberley Joint Response Team and other agencies and social services, with self-referrals welcome. The service provides proactive outreach to Kimberley communities to prevent and respond to child Sexual Abuse.

Through delivery of person-centred, culturally appropriate case management support, you will work with clients to develop individualised case plans with a focus on protective behaviours and prevention as well as responding to Sexual Abuse/assault disclosures. You will be responsible for providing professional Sexual Abuse/assault counselling, education and training services, and supervision. Additionally, you will oversee related administration processes and the implementation of quality systems in consultation with line management. 

This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) opportunity based in Kununurra.  


What you will bring
You are passionate about your professional practice and specifically about providing person-centred, trauma informed and culturally appropriate services.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or related area. (An exemption to this essential requirement may apply to applicants who have demonstrated equivalent knowledge of and experience working with Indigenous people and/or is an Indigenous Australian)
  • Experience working with Indigenous people and/or is an Indigenous Australian
  • Knowledge of local Aboriginal culture, including family relationships and kinship systems
  • Ability to accept, respect and work with clients from a broad range of backgrounds and abilities, and from different cultures, particularly with Aboriginal & CaLD clients
  • Ability to relate, engage and build strong relationships with a wide range of clients 
  • Developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to assess risk and prioritise accordingly

The successful candidate must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year, a WA Working with Children Check and WA Drivers Licence.

•    $101,876 - $106,497 + 11% super
•    Electricity allowance of $1,000 per year
•    Rent subsidy of $300 per week
