AWLQ promises to never euthanize a healthy, sociable or treatable animal in our care, this means we treat a wide variety of conditions on top of routine surgeries and procedures. As a bonus you'll see animals that you care for adopted into new loving homes.
About the role
You will be joining a small team who work hard but always have time for a laugh. There aren’t many quiet days due to the high number of animals needing AWLQ’s help, but on the flipside, there’s no weekend work and very little after-hours.
This role allows for variety as you will be both consulting and performing surgery. You will see a variety of procedures from standard desexing including large dog spays, early age desexing, dentals, x-rays, to entropion, cherry eye, amputations, soft tissue, plus additional surgeries depending on your skill level.

Key Responsibilities
- Radiology, dental radiology, and ultrasound procedures
- Hospital rounds
- Health exams
- Medical investigation including diagnostics
- Foster animal consults and rechecks
- Updating patient records
- Knowledge, understanding and empathy for community animal health and welfare issues
What are the minimum requirements for this position?
- 2+ years’ veterinary experience
- This is a surgery role, so applicants will need to be confident in standard procedures including cat and dog castrates and spays, dental procedures
- A strong interest in Shelter medicine
As the successful candidate you will have:
- Degree Qualification in Veterinary Science and Registration as a Veterinarian
- Enthusiasm to develop skills
- Ability to monitor and manage medical cases
- Commitment to embracing a positive team environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well with other departments
- Experience being a sole charge Vet working with an experienced nursing team
- Kindness and compassion for the animals in our care
