About the Role:
Stellar Recruitment are currently seeking experienced Shotfirers for an immediate start in Whyalla NSW on a 7/7 roster, dayshift only, BIBO or DIDO & Accommodation Supplied.
Duties
- Compliance with the Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations Part 8 Explosives and Dangerous Goods Regulations;
- All handling, transportation, storage, preparation, priming, charging, connection and initiation of explosives, blasting agent, detonating cord, detonator, initiating system or blasting accessory are conducted with due diligence and follow safe work practices;
- Ensuring only competent, trained and authorised persons handle explosives;
- Personnel are adequately informed as to the location and planned time of blast;
- Detailed inspection of all blasted areas and reporting of any known or suspected misfires
- Any variations to blast designs are immediately reported to your supervisor;
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of blast pattern and parameters used in the drilling of a shot;
- Can demonstrate pattern tie in designs on the shot plus program;
- Ensure that the QA/QC is adhered to and that all loading parameters are met;
- Sound understanding of timing of the shot and requirements to move the ore in a uniform direction;
- Ensure that all explosive material withdrawn from the magazine is accounted for, and any discrepancies are recorded in the magazine book and reported to your supervisor immediately;
- Magazines books to kept legible and white out is not to be used;
- Manage pedestrian and vehicle traffic on and off patterns;
- Sound understanding of all site procedures and responsibilities; and
- Adhere to all site procedures and policies.
- Ability to communicate with MPU operators with day to day operational information
- More than 2 years previous Experience in Shotfiring role
- Dangerous Goods Security Card Required (Driving Licence Desirable)
- NSW Shotfirer Licence
- High Risk Ticket
- Experience in maintenance and housekeeping of MPU equipment & reload facilities
- Must pass a pre-employment medical and lab drug and alcohol screen
