About this opportunity

Our expanding operations in the mining and quarrying industry present an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to join our team in Mackay, Queensland. We are seeking a versatile individual experienced both as a Shotfirer and an MPU (Mobile Processing Unit) Operator. This permanent position offers a pivotal role in our operations, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Efficient operation of MPUs, ensuring strict adherence to established procedures and manuals.
• Timely delivery of bulk emulsion services and related tasks, achieving blasting on schedule.
• Coordination with customers and internal teams for the delivery of drilling services, technical services, and supply of explosives.
• Accurate completion of all transportation, delivery, and quality control documentation.
• Maintenance of MPUs with thorough documentation, ensuring seamless service delivery.
• Supervision of blast crew, utilizing efficient blast design practices and accurate mark outs.
• Development and maintenance of relationships with customers.
• Adherence to health and safety requirements, demonstrating commitment to a safety-driven culture.

The successful applicant will have:

• Minimum HC Licence (Heavy Combination).
• Shotfirer Ticket.
• Dangerous Goods Security Card.
• Queensland Security Clearance.
• Demonstrated experience in MPU operation and blasting practices.
• Competency in explosive handling practices and supervision of blast crew.
• Strong customer focus and communication skills.
• Australian Open Class Manual Driver's License.
• Residency in Mackay, Queensland and surrounds.
• Ability to travel for work, with overnight stays as required.
