This open-cut thermal coal operation consists of a full suite of mining activities inclusive of dragline, truck and excavator, dozer push, mine site rehabilitation, coal processing, coal crushing, product haulage and train load-out activities.
The Blair Athol Coal mine is located 24km northwest of the family-friendly township of Clermont in Central Queensland, 120 km northwest of Emerald and 275km southwest of Mackay.

The Role
At TerraCom, we are hiring a Site Access Officer to support our Blair Athol Coal Mine. The role forms a core component of our strategy to provide a safe and productive workplace and you will be an integral part of the Health, Safety, Environment and Training team. You support all functions of the mine via Site Access including the use of and monitoring of site communication systems, Site Access control for employees, contractors and visitors and a wide variety of auditing and support of operational departments on a 7 on 7 off day roster.
Responsibilities of the Role:
- The ability to administrate and help build a strong team culture and foster the training needs of our Emergency Response Team members.
- Provide a 24/7 on-call point of contact for all types of emergencies whilst on duty at the Site Access centre (for duration of 7 day swing).
- Foster relationships and contact with other service agencies and personnel, including but not limited to, Queensland Police Service and Queensland Ambulance Service.
- Inspect, audit, and maintain emergency response equipment to ensure a state of continuous readiness.
- Undertake where required audits and inspections of the workplace to ensure compliance with the site Safety and Health Management System (SHMS).
- Other Health, Safety, Environment and Training functions as required.
- Control access of workers and others to site and provision of escort services as required.
Skills and Experience:
- Very good interpersonal skills, including excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility and a can-do attitude are essential.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft office suite such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Advanced first aid.
- Mining experience is desirable.
- Drug and Alcohol Testing Certification is desirable.
