About the role

The Mental Health service sits within the Health and Wellbeing business unit alongside physical wellbeing and Social and Lifestyle Wellbeing. The vison is to educate, encourage and empower Min Res employees to improve their lifestyle behaviors and shape the culture of the company to create a healthier and happier workforce. This will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide short-term evidence-based interventions to employees with mild to moderate Mental Health issues e.g., stress (including work-related stress), grief, relationship difficulties, anxiety, burnout, low mood.
  • Support employees with return to work transitions as necessary in collaboration with the People Team and / or the Injury Management Team.
  • Provide welfare checks and risk assessments as necessary.
  • Manage a case load of up to 25 active clients based on 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (1.0FTE).
  • Consultations are provided through a combination of in-person, telephone and videoconferencing mediums to metropolitan and non-metropolitan sites.
  • Assess employees needs and create an evidence informed care plan in collaboration with the employee.
  • Use of psychometric measures, consistent with experience and training, to inform assessment and management planning for employees. 
  • Work in collaboration with site based colleagues as a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) e.g. Emergency Services Officer, Medic, Health and Wellbeing Advisor, Gym staff, Village Lifestyle Advisor, Coaches)
  • Delivery of Mental Health education and psychosocial wellbeing initiatives at a site based level in line with work structures (e.g. pre start meeting, return to work meetings, workshops, evening mindfulness sessions)
  • Encourage employees to access resources such as the Employee Assistance Program (Assure), including the Wellbeing Gateway mobile app modules and text therapy.
  • Engage in supervision with the MinRes Head of Mental Health or externally sourced supervisor.
  • Maintains confidential record keeping. 
  • Supports the participation of quality improvement and sector based Mental Health research.
  • The role is a hybrid Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) – Perth based roster on a fortnightly basis.
  • Performs the role as per the regulatory agencies Code of Ethics. 

We’re looking for:

  • Master of Counselling qualification (or equivalent e.g. Registered Psychologist) from a tertiary institution.
  • Membership with a relevant regulatory body (Australian Counselling Association, Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Agency, Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia)
  • Certificate of Currency of Combined Malpractice, Public and Products Liability insurance.
  • C Class Drivers Licence (an advantage)
  • National Police Clearance
  • West Australian Working with Children Check (WWC)
  • Demonstrated 2+ years’ experience in a Mental Health service.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct Mental Health risk assessments including suicide risk assessment.
  • Demonstrates computer literacy, including MS Office suite and electronic diary keeping.
  • High level communication (written & verbal), organisational, literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as a team member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Developed problem solving ability and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a responsive manner as business requirements change.
  • Strategic thinker, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with other people positively to achieve required outcomes.
  •  Demonstrate a positive attitude and show initiative to solving problems.
  • Ability to participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary health and wellbeing team and also to work autonomously.
