As the Site Safety Coordinator, you with play a vital role in ensuring compliance to the safety requirements on the construction site by all contractors and visitors, including responsibility and management of the Construction Site Traffic Management Plan, and the compliance to this by all vehicles entering the Construction Site.
 
Position accountabilities, but not limited to:

  • Ensure all Contractor staff have the correct and current licenses for all applicable plant and equipment used in the scope of works of the Contractor.
  • Audit compliance to all legislated or regulatory requirements for plant and equipment used on site.
  • Ensure all Contractor staff working on site are certified by their employer as suitable skilled and experienced to undertake the relevant tasks included in the Contractors scope of works.
  • Review and approve Contractor SWMS relating to the Contractors scope of works to ensure compliance to all legislative and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Check, record, and ensure currency of all relevant details or sub-Contractor licenses and insurances prior to commencement of work on site.
  • Ensure all Contractors and others coming to site a properly inducted and comply to all Site Safety requirements whilst on site.
  • Visitors to site are signed into and out of site and are escorted whilst on site.
  • Compliance to the Construction Site Traffic Management Plan and manage the contracted traffic control staff on site.
  • Ensure all Hazards, Near Misses, and Incidents are reported by the relevant sub-Contractor and properly investigated.
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance to Site Safety rules, legislative requirements.
  • Ensure, prior to commencement of work on site, and retention of a plant risk assessment report by the Contractor in accordance with NOHSC 1010: National Standard for Plant, and other relevant documents and records as applicable for the use on site.
  • Holds periodic safety toolbox meetings with all Contractors and staff on site to discuss safety incidents and reinforce a safety-first culture. 
About you: 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a construction WHS role, in particular relating to working at heights, mobile plant, cranes, and structural steel erection and the installation and commissioning of plant at height.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experiencing in dealing with building trades on site relating to Site Safety requirements.
  • Tertiary qualified in Work Health Safety - min. Cert IV.
  • Completion of or undertaking applicable building trade qualification.
  • Sound knowledge and application of applicable WHS legislation and regulation, contemporary safety matters and best practice to construction sites.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate legislative, technical, and compliance requirements to all trades and personnel operating.
  • Knowledge of industrial construction terminology and processes.
  • Current White Card.
  • Current Workplace First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Ability to lead, coach, motivate, and influence at all levels toward a Safety-First goal.
  • Able to work to deadlines with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s license.
