Smith Constructions is a medium sized commercial building company with over 50 years of experience in the WA construction industry. We enjoy an excellent reputation for quality and have a practical ‘hands on’ approach to our operations. 

Due to the on-going success across our construction projects, Smith Constructions has upcoming work in both the South West & Great Southern Regions. We are looking to recruit for the following positions: Site Supervisors, Carpenters & Labourers.

Smith Constructions are seeking energetic individuals who are passionate about building & construction. They must displays a strong work ethic with a willingness to approach their role with confidence & respect. 

Renumeration will be offered based on previous experience and demonstrable ability to achieve outcomes within the commercial construction sector. 

 
Site Supervisors

As a Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day to day requirements for successful site management, overseeing all on-site personnel including subcontractors and liaising with Clients and their representatives. 

Working closely with the Construction Manager you will help to ensure project needs are identified in a timely manner and project commitments are met safely and within both programme and budget. 

Site Supervisor candidates will possess the following:

  • A qualification in a building trade or building and construction
  • Be an experienced operator in the building and construction industry with time spent in commercial construction preferred
  • The technical ability to read, understand and apply building plans and specifications to ensure all industry standards are met 
  • A high level of interpersonal skills and diplomacy in all of their interactions
  • Excellent leadership qualities and communication 
  • Ability to think laterally, multi task and use initiative to ensure project success
Carpenters

Working alongside the Site Supervisor as a Carpenter, your role will be to plan and carry out a variety of building and construction tasks within required timeframes and standard of quality.

Carpentry candidates will possess the following:

  • A trade qualification in Carpentry
  • Multiple years of experience in the building & construction industry
  • Ability to understand drawings and specifications to determine materials required, correct dimensions and installation procedures
  • Be proficient in carpentry techniques including framing, roofing & second fixing.
  • Ability to provide your own tools.
Labourers

Labourers will be required to carry out a number of construction tasks including site setup, site running, providing assistance to those performing a variety of construction trades and operate small plant and equipment. 

Labouring candidates will possess the following: 

  • Be reliable and have pride in their work
  • Previous labour experience in the construction industry (preferred)  
  • Be able to provide physical labour to assist trades in the completion of construction works
  • Tickets and competencies to operate some or all of; forklift, skid steer loader, mini excavator and telehandler or the willingness to obtain 
  • Assist with deliveries including loading, securing and unloading materials

Labourers will be require to plan and carry out tasks under supervision and in accordance with assigned responsibilities to meet the required timeframe and standard of quality. 

All candidates must:

  • Provide details of their previous experience including their role in specific projects that they have worked on 
  • Provide details of all training, qualifications and industry tickets/licenses that they hold that are relevant to the industry
  • Value team and work effectively as a team member
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to comply with all Work Health and Safety systems and legislation
  • Have the ability to perform sustained physical work
  • Adhere to D&A Policy
  • Possess a Current Drivers Licence
  • Possess a Current National Police Clearance (through WA Police Dept)
  • Possess a Construction Induction Safety Training (White Card)
