Our Parks Workers play a key role in maintaining and preserving the Sunshine Coasts’ beautiful parks, reserves, streetscapes, and trees by undertaking horticultural, arboricultural, and landscape improvements, maintenance and management and utilising various plant equipment as part of day-to-day activities.
The Skilled Park Worker is responsible for carrying out plant operation activities, delivering and maintaining efficient and effective day-to-day operation of parks, natural areas, streetscapes, roadside vegetation and trees, and landscape improvement activities.
About you
As the face of Council, you will provide excellent customer service and ensure work is carried out in a timely manner, while working as part of a pro-active, high performing team.
While possessing well developed team and leadership qualities, you also have an eye for detail and can work autonomously.
Your horticultural/arboricultural management knowledge should demonstrate a strong understanding of soil science, plant identification, plant health care, pruning and maintenance requirements, planting activities, and pest & disease management.
- Certificate III Horticulture or relevant trade experience.
- Relevant plant licences as required.
- Experience in horticulture/arboriculture tasks, including tree planting, pruning, mulching, maintenance, watering, nursery operations, and landscaping.
- Physical agility and level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting and bending.
- Knowledge of the use of chemicals and pesticides, horticultural machinery and equipment.
Pre-Employment Medical Required
Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
