Job Summary:
As a Smash Repair spray painter, you will be tasked with restoring the appearance of vehicles that have been damaged in accidents or other incidents. Your primary responsibility will be to apply paint and other finishing touches to vehicles, ensuring they look as good as new. You will work closely with other members of the repair team to assess the extent of damage and determine the appropriate course of action to restore the vehicle to its pre-accident condition.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare vehicles for painting by cleaning, sanding, and priming surfaces as needed.
2. Mix paint to match vehicle colors using paint mixing equipment and formulas.
3. Apply paint to vehicles using spray guns, ensuring even coverage and smooth finishes.
4. Follow safety procedures and guidelines when handling and disposing of paint and other hazardous materials.
5. Mask and tape off areas not to be painted to protect them from overspray.
6. Blend and feather paint to ensure seamless transitions between repaired and original areas.
7. Inspect painted surfaces for quality and touch up as needed.
8. Keep accurate records of materials used and work performed.
9. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
10. Collaborate with other members of the repair team to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience as a spray painter in a Smash Repair or automotive body shop.
2. Proficiency in mixing and applying automotive paint.
3. Knowledge of painting techniques and equipment, including spray guns and paint booths.
4. Strong attention to detail and quality.
5. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
6. Good communication skills.
7. Physical stamina and dexterity to work in a fast-paced environment.
8. Willingness to adhere to safety procedures and guidelines.
9. Certification or training in automotive painting preferred but not required.
