Children's Health Queensland provides services from key locations in the Brisbane metropolitan area and works with the 15 other hospital and health services as well as NGOs and charity partners in Queensland to deliver an integrated network of healthcare services and support across the state.
Your Opportunity:
This temporary 12 month part time Senior Medical Officer position (General Practitioner with Special Interest, GPSI) will:
- Provide General Practice services to patients in accordance with the standards of the discipline and the ethics of the profession
- Provide advanced General Practice services in a subspecialty area, transgender and gender diverse children and adolescents, within a tertiary setting & ensure the provision of high quality, safe and family centred care within CHQ HHS within the agreed scope of experience and qualifications
- Deliver medical treatment of transgender and gender diverse young people as per recognised national and international clinical practice guidelines, namely, WPATH SOC8, Australian Standards of Care and Treatment Guidelines and Endocrine Society Clinical Practice Guidelines (Hembree et al, 2017)
- Specific duties may involve outpatient services (including Telehealth), procedural work, multidisciplinary team meetings and collaboration and communication with other medical teams, professional streams and the QCGS team; research, teaching and training as required, or as directed by the Coordinator QCGS
- Ensure compliance with contemporary healthcare safety and quality standards, service standards, policies, procedures and guidelines and participate in CHQ assurance processes including accreditation.
- Liaise and collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective team functioning, positive patient outcomes and the achievement of departmental objectives.
- Actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resources management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, ethical behaviour, and sensitivity to client issues.
- Explore innovative ways to improve value for money services.
- Enable clinical pathways.
- Document relevant clinical information clearly, concisely, accurately and appropriately.
- Ensure appropriate handover of patients, as needed.
- Liaise and collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective team functioning, positive patient outcomes and the achievement of departmental objectives.
