We are seeking to appoint a Snr Consultant/Director – Incident Response, to our cybersecurity practice in Sydney. This is a full-time role offering excellent career opportunities and professional development for your future progression within the firm.
What You’ll Do
- Respond to complex cyber incidents, including ransomware, data breaches, malware infections, email compromises, insider threats, and other security breaches experienced by our clients.
- Conduct in-depth investigations on various platforms and devices to identify the extent of compromises and potential threat actors.
- Rapidly assess incoming incidents, coordinating with internal teams and clients to implement containment strategies and mitigate potential damages.
- Utilise security tools, software, and methodologies to gather and analyse digital evidence, reconstructing incident timelines, and producing detailed assessments for internal and external stakeholders.
- Generate clear and concise reports documenting investigative findings, analysis results, and recommended remediation actions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Cybersecurity, Forensics, Legal and IT teams, to ensure well-rounded and informative Incident Response efforts.
- Stay current with the latest cyber threats, attack techniques, and threat actor trends

Qualifications & Experience
- A keen interest in cybersecurity either offensive or defensive, with a desire to progress a career with an international cybersecurity consultancy.
- Tertiary qualifications in cybersecurity or similar technology discipline
- One of the following - GCIH, GCIA, GCFA, GREM or similar certification(s) preferred
- Preferably five (5+) years of cybersecurity experience in complex operating environments
- Minimum three (3+) years in a customer facing support role (Client Services, Consulting, Professional Services)
- Extensive hands-on Incident Response and threat hunting experience with exposure to either host, network, or cloud forensics
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- A confident and articulate approach to briefing senior-level leadership and conveying technical information to a range of audiences of varying backgrounds.
- Desire to work with customers to solve complex IR scenarios, including during crisis situations.
- A strong work ethic and integrity and high level of professionalism
- Travel to FTI Consulting’s interstate and/or client locations as required
- Theoretical and practical knowledge in the following areas:
Modern Enterprise Detection and Response (EDR) tools
AWS, Azure (including Microsoft 365), and/or GCP
Tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) commonly employed by threat actors
Network traffic analysis, endpoint activity analysis, and log analysis techniques
Enterprise cyber incident management and response processes
Enterprise cybersecurity controls and failure modes
