About the JobThis role is part of a multi-disciplinary team that delivers the Children’s Ground Family Health and Wellbeing Framework to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes for First Nations communities.
The Social and Emotional Wellbeing Lead supports the delivery of social and emotional wellbeing supporting First Nations children aged 0-8 and their families through:
- The development and implementation of a range of early intervention and prevention strategies which promote positive mental health and social and emotional wellbeing outcomes.
- Providing a broad range of culturally safe and responsive interventions that address the mental health needs of First Nations children, young people, and their families.
- A social and emotional wellbeing environment in Children’s Ground that promotes First Nations wellbeing practices and knowledge.
- Contribution to a Children’s Ground’s Wellbeing strategy for the social and emotional wellbeing of staff.
This position works with families in Darwin's First Nation communities and provides support to West Arnhem.

About YouThe Social and Emotional Wellbeing Lead will have relevant qualifications and experience working with First Nations communities and an understanding of the effects of colonisation, disempowerment, and intergenerational trauma.
You will be able to demonstrate the achievement of successful holistic outcomes for children and their families through your working within a trauma informed practice framework.
To be successful in this position, you will need to be creative and flexible with the ability to engage and empower First Nations communities to identify their strengths and needs and to develop plans and delivery of services accordingly.
Key Selection Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualification or minimum three years’ experience.
- Demonstrated success working in a position that promotes social and emotional health and wellbeing.
- Experience working with First Nations communities and an understanding of the effects of colonisation, disempowerment, and intergenerational trauma.
- Knowledge of a range of interventions and prevention strategies which promote positive mental health and social and emotional wellbeing outcomes.
- Experience in developing, designing, implementing, and evaluating preventative and early intervention therapeutic programs.
- Strong relationship, networking, and communication skills - both verbal and written.
- Strong people skills with demonstrated experience working collaboratively within and across teams to facilitate programs.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
- Willingness to undergo a National Police Check and obtain an NT OCHRE Working with Children Check
