What we are looking for
Reporting to the Social Support Group Coordinator, the Social Support Group Assistant, is responsible for the implementation and administration of a range of services and activities based around a Social Support Group. Integrated with other services offered by the Healthcare Service, these activities will maintain and enhance the physical, emotional and social wellbeing, promoting the independence of older people, people with disabilities and their carer’s in our community.
Duties include:
- Assist the Social Support Group Coordinator in the planning and implementation of activities ensuring activities are appropriate for each client’s needs and capabilities. Be involved in creating a monthly calendar of activities
- To ensure a helpful, responsive and caring approach to the provision of activities and social interaction respecting the dignity and rights of the clients at all times.
- Report on the needs of clients, or any concerns about the clients to the Social Support Group Coordinator.
This is a casual position. Terms and Conditions of Employment will be in line with Victorian Public Health Sector (Health and Allied Services, Managers and Administrative Workers) Single Interest Enterprise Agreement 2020 - 2024.
What you will need
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience in a related field and or/ relevant certificates
- Certificate in health and leisure or working towards
- Food Handling Certificate
- Sensitivity and responsiveness to people’s differing needs, particularly the elderly and people with disabilities
- Previous experience in recreational activities and crafts
- An understanding of the aims and objectives of the Social Support program and the CHSP/ HACC Guidelines.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan and implement a program of activities within a timeframe.
- Current driver’s license.
