About your opportunity
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) offers a specialised Mental Health Service for families with children and young people (birth to 18 years) who experience severe and complex Mental Health problems, and where their needs cannot be met by other services.
CYMHS provides a comprehensive, recovery-orientated Mental Health Service that aims to improve the Mental Health and wellbeing of children and young people and their carer networks. Recovery principles are embedded into service delivery, culture and practice, providing consumers and their families, in collaboration with other services, access and referral to a range of interventions that will support and sustain recovery.
CYMHS is a multi-disciplinary, multi-specialty community-based service that also provides an acute response to the Townsville Hospital Emergency Department during hours.
Role Requirements

  • The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification from an accredited tertiary institution in Social Work as well as eligibility for full membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position. 5.1.
  • Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • While not mandatory, status as an AASW accredited Mental HealthSocial Worker is highly regarded.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.

Generous remuneration package value up to $152,775 p.a. comprising and a salary range of $124,435 to $133,901 p.a. (HP4)
