Seaforth Primary School (PS) is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Social Worker to join their team.
In this role, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing support for students and families in need. The successful applicant will join the Student Support team to work collaboratively with families and carers to reduce the complexities impacting students most in need and supporting them to better engage with their learning. Responsibilities include undertaking social work assessments, case formulations and interventions of referred students and their families. The work will include home visits and working with families, teachers, school leaders and allied staff to collaboratively and proactively problem solve complex cases.
The successful applicant should collaborate closely with other staff within our existing support structures. They will join a community of motivated educators committed to ensuring the wellbeing of each and every student at our school.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Knowledge of current initiatives, policies and trends in relation to social work and community development.
- Skills and experience working with children and families.
- Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and negotiate effectively.
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to identify and clarify issues and problems, generate strategies or resources to address them and evaluate the effectiveness of them.
- Knowledge of school systems and operations and skills in working individually or a multi-disciplinary team setting.
- Experience in project and case management.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- possess a degree in Social Work and be eligible for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
