  • Employment Full time or Part Time - Term Contract (temporary 9-month contract until 14 March 2025)

About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Palliative Care team as aSocial Worker, Full time or Part time, until 14 March 2025.

The Paediatric Palliative Care Service (PPCS) provides support to families caring for a child with a life-limiting illness. This is tailored to each family’s individual needs to help make decisions about care. The Paediatric Palliative Care Service is uniquely responsible for the provision of care across the whole state of South Australia and into Northern Territory, Broken Hill and Mildura.

The PPCS is a statewide service providing specialist care for children with life-limiting conditions. Our mission is to provide excellent service to children and families facing life-limiting illness through partnership with families, interdisciplinary teamwork, and offering holistic care.

The service is a multidisciplinary team of health care specialists including:

  • Doctors
  • Nurses
  • Grief and Loss Coordinators
  • Social Workers
  • Art Therapists

In this role, you will:

  • Provide clinical and consultative services across a range of service settings, including one-on-one and group evidence based psychosocial interventions for families under the care of the PPCS
  • Initiate and participate in the planning, promotion and maintenance of research and ongoing planning and evaluation of the PPCS.
  • Ensure social work practices and protocols relating to Palliative care meet established methodologies.
  • Provide care across the patient journey from diagnosis and into bereavement as part of an interdisciplinary approach to paediatric Palliative Care.
