The role
As the Engineering Manager at Praemium, you will play a crucial role in implementing innovative architectural principles and leveraging modern technology to steer the evolution of our platform. You will ensure teams are resourced with the right technical expertise and capability to meet business needs. This role combines technical architecture and people management, championing the best technical patterns, principles, and practices. You will own the engineering process, covering design, development, deployment, and maintenance of team-owned products and platforms. As a key leader, you will tackle high-level challenges and technology issues to ensure high-quality code, testing, and security standards, balancing quality software with speed of delivery.
Main Responsibilities of This Position:

  • Lead the engineering process, advocating for best technical patterns, principles, and practices.
  • Strengthen current Software Engineering practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, particularly in DevOps.
  • Enhance platform health, ensuring systems are reliable, resilient, efficient, and scalable.
  • Ensure the team maintains exceptional incident and support management aligning with predefined service agreements.
  • Develop high-performance software through Test-Driven/Behaviour-Driven Development (TDD/BDD) practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Identify and address operational bottlenecks for improved efficiency.
  • Provide effective leadership to a diverse engineering team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Set clear goals and objectives aligning with the overall business and Technology strategy.
  • Support, coach, mentor, and upskill the engineering team of 50+ Developers, facilitating their professional growth and development.
  • Foster open communication within the team and across the business, presenting technical updates and project statuses to leadership and other relevant stakeholders.
Essential Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies:
  • 10+ years of Software Engineering experience, including leading application development teams.
  • Demonstrable experience in successfully managing, mentoring, and up-skilling large teams.
  • Strong understanding of operational and technical aspects of complex systems, with up-to-date knowledge of current development engineering best practices.
  • Excellent analysis, design, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Expert communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Financial and business acumen.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
