Our technology helps governments and commercial operators to visually monitor their spacecraft and other space objects they care about. We do this by transforming Earth observation satellites into in-orbit inspection cameras with our proprietary software and generating insights through our computer vision techniques. About the role:
Space Mission Analysts are an important part of how we understand customer requirements, task missions to support their requirements and deliver high quality, actionable intelligence on objects in orbit. We are looking for a passionate, self-motivated Space Mission Analyst to use our unique space-to-space imagery and data to discover new insights about a wide array of objects in space. You'll be combining HEO's analytics with open source data to answer questions associated with a satellite's operational status to identify unknown objects. With years of experience in this domain, the HEO team will help you expand your knowledge and skills to flourish in this exciting role.
HEO is hiring a Space Mission Analyst to work in Sydney, Australia. We encourage both recent graduates and candidates with previous similar industry experience to apply for this position.
Your key responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance reports for key customers in government, defence, and commercial sectors about objects of interest in orbit.
  • Work with HEO's in-house analytics tools to generate consistent, and high quality insights.
  • Combine high level image and data analysis with research from publicly available sources to determine key insights about spacecraft and debris.
  • Schedule and support HEO's missions to ensure customer deadlines are fulfilled through tasking our space-based sensors.
  • Design and run experiments.
  • Support automation improvements for execution of missions.
  • Provide internal feedback on how our product should improve to provide the best experience for customers.
About you, we'd love for you to have:
  • Understanding and keen interest in space, satellite subsystems and structures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (including scientific or intelligence report writing)
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and comfortable with experimenting to solve new challenges
  • Ability to continuously learn, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Enjoys the challenge of building an early stage start-up and willing to grow with HEO as it expands and delivers on its mission to image space-based objects on demand.
  • Experience in Python programming, using space situational awareness data, astrodynamics or 3D modeling (e.g. Blender) is considered a plus.
