We seek a talented Spatial Analyst to join our team with interest and, ideally, experience in the local government sector.

  1. The Data & Intelligence Team provides expert 2D and 3D spatial services, spatial visualisations, surveying, remote sensing and machine learning tools and services.
  2. Our Analytics Team, a leader in operational, project, and strategic spatial services and consultancy, is trusted by a diverse range of companies, from blue-chip internationals to local operations. This versatility ensures that we can cater to each client's unique needs.
  3. The Development Team builds and integrates custom spatial systems for government and corporate clients and supports Esk's business, services, and consultancy units.

About the role: 


As a Spatial Analyst at Esk, you will assist us in providing GIS services to our valued clients in a planned, strategic, and systematic way. You will support them, understand where they’re at, deliver projects and support their strategic goals, ambitions, and expectations via their spatial GIS, predominately being AGOL.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in spatial analysis, data visualisation, and GIS tools, focusing on leveraging AGOL capabilities to drive insights and decision-making. You will also be expected to build and maintain long-term client relationships and drive new business in the sector.

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Data management and analysis within and utilising client systems.
  • Auditing, QA and cleansing of client data.
  • Producing engaging maps, infographics, web maps (especially AGOL) and presentation material.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Esk and local government.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in spatial analysis.
  • Conduct training transferring operating or procedural knowledge to clients.
  • Maintain and deepen client relationships with friendly and authentic support.
  • Assist clients by offering ideas and innovative suggestions, unleashing the full power of their system.

Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or related field and/or experience.
  • Proven experience in spatial analysis, GIS, and remote sensing techniques.
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as ESRI suite, including AGOL, QGIS, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and visualise complex spatial data.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in local government or related public sector environment is preferred but not required.
