Special Needs Teacher's Aide (Primary)

KTC is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Teacher Aide with a passion for working with students with additional learning needs. The ideal candidate will have an understanding, and passion for supporting children with additional needs. While experience working with children with additional needs is desirable, ongoing training and professional development will be provided.
Specific requirements:
- As a Special Needs Teacher Aide, you’ll need provide individualised support catering to the intellectual, physical and behavioural needs of an individual child with additional needs.
- Day-to-day tasks include room and activity setup.
- Guiding the student to follow the teacher’s instructions.
- Assisting with meals, toileting assistance, helping the student moving around the campus and general supervision.
- Provide targeted intervention for the needs of the individual student you support.
- Support the socio-emotional needs and learning goals of the student.
- Collaborate with the teachers, Deputy Head of Primary, Head of Learning Support and external therapists to create and implement the students’ individual plan.
- Work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Demonstrate an ability to write proficiently (documentation and reports) in order to document lessons and/or incidents.
- Motivate students to achieve and to develop a life-long love of learning
- Willingness to work in line with the college ethos
Desirable skills:
- Ability to follow direction and prioritise
- Interpersonal and communication skills in working with a diverse range of staff
- Ability to maintain the quality of assigned work
- Experience working in a teaching/learning environment
- Proficient IT skills
