About the role:
The Digital Innovation team is currently seeking a Specialist AI & Data Science to join them on a Monday - Friday Roster based at Perth. Reporting to the Principal AI & Data Science, you will be responsible for performing all activities related to Data Science, data engineering & AI. This includes developing new AI and Data Science solutions to solve high profile business problems as well as supporting and maintaining existing analytics solutions.
This position will provide expertise in training and coaching other Data Science practitioners in the line of business to utilise Roy Hill's cloud-based analytics technology platform..
Duties:
- Ensuring Data Science & AI solutions are built with sustainability and supportability in mind.
- Providing peer review feedback on analytics solutions that others have implemented.
- Set a good example by effectively using modelling and source code governance/management technologies (e.g. git, mlflow)
- Monitor the Azure cloud platform for faults daily and identify opportunities for platform and solution improvement and simplification.
- Lead by example and set the benchmark standard for high quality support documentation.
- Keep up to date with new analytics technology and industry best practice - recommend capability expanding improvements.
- Grow the adoption of AI at Roy Hill.
- Develop innovative and effective approaches to solve AI and analytics problems and communicate and document both results and methodologies.
- Assist in uplifting the organisation's capability and understanding of the possibilities and uses of AI.
- Work in an iterative manner with stakeholders to validate findings.
- Present the rationale in easy-to-understand terms for business stakeholders.
Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience in a Data Science related field
- Experience in the mining industry
- Completed a bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics.
- Expert Knowledge of at least one Data Science language (e.g. Python, R)
- Expert Knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Java, C#, Scala).
- Expert Knowledge of both statistical modelling and modern machine learning techniques.
