Your Role


Join IAG’s Chief Underwriting office (CUO) Risk team in this NEWLY create role as a Specialist, ESG Underwriting & Emerging and Evolving Insurance Risks (EEIR). You will be part of a team who is leading the development of our Responsible Underwriting Approach which will consider all components of ESG, with a strong focus on Climate and Decarbonisation. Working in a dynamic and outcome-oriented environment. You will be responsible for conducting research, analysis and assimilation of information from a variety of internal and external sources. You will ensure the complex implications of Responsible / ESG Underwriting and Emerging and Evolving Insurance Risks are understood, including the impacts on operations, customers, partners, and Divisions.  You will ensure the implications of these issues are considered and managed and managed through the modelling of various scenario’s defining the likely outcome of different options.  
 
It will be critical for you to have Insurance and/or underwriting expertise with a proven passion for sustainability as you support engagement and coordination with IAG stakeholders and external partners. You will be collaborative, and customer focused with a demonstrated ability to think commercially and influence at all levels. You will have the ability to provide research outcomes and recommendations, administrative support and specialist advice to leaders to influence and inform decision making while engaging a broad stakeholder group and managing complexity in a large matrix environment.  

 

This role is a full-time permanent role based in AU (Sydney or Melbourne) or NZ (Auckland). 

 

About You

 

  • Tertiary qualification/s and or significant experience gained preferably in a strategy/science/emerging technology/climate and or sustainability context.
  • Ability to lead projects and manage complex stakeholder relations independently.
  • Experienced business analysis/insight and ability to communicate this succinctly but with depth in both written and verbal forms.
  • Thought leadership, influencing and proficient communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex organisations and regulated products/services.
  • Experience in turning technical/expert knowledge into easily understood narratives (creative communication skills are a plus)
  • Awareness of changing technology/customer/insurance trends
  • Creativity - through application of hands-on & learned knowledge/ and/or generating insight from synthesised knowledge.
  • Ability to learn new skills, adapt, and create value through experimentation.
  • Collaborative, team player, able to work independently & towards team goals.
