About the Role

BHP's Legal Operations & Transformation team bring skills and expertise to enable Legal to be the best team it can be delivering the best service to the business through:

  • Strategy & transformation - Keep Legal cutting edge and future focused, transforming the way Legal works by delivering and embedding improvement, innovation and best practice
  • Delivery - Drive operational activities so lawyers can focus on practicing law and managing legal risk
  • Optimising & Enabling - Enable and drive Legal and business performance by optimising people, resources, processes and technology
Reporting to the Group General Counsel, the team supports Legal globally. The role (based in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane or Singapore) reports to the Managing Counsel Legal Operations & Transformation in Singapore who sits on Lexco.

A diverse and interesting role helping to solve problems and do things better:
  • Innovation & Transformation - Deliver transformation and improvement that leaves a positive impact. Actively seek, design and implement transformation initiatives including process improvements and technology solutions. Manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Systems, Tools & Technology - Deploying systems, tools & technology that enable Legal, solve complex challenges and pain points. Assessing technology opportunities and threats, administering key tools, and building and deploying custom apps.
  • Business Operations - Internal analysis and consulting focused on improving performance and staying cutting edge. Provide qualitative and quantitative analysis and data visualisation for planning, decision making and to commincate value. Support budget development and management. Bring external best practice in.
  • Vendor Management - Administering Legal's vendor management processes. Enabling the team with the best tool for the job
About You
  • 5 years' experience top-tier law/accounting firm, legal function, ALSP or consultancy.
  • Innovation mindset, ability to think creatively to solve problems, use Lean and design thinking, and implement solutions while prioritising and managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to wrangle complex qualitative and quantitative data and transform it into insights. Analytics visualisation, financial and data literacy skills, good conceptual framing capabilities and demonstrated commercial and strategic acumen.
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 including Power tools and SharePoint proficiency. Programming, 1SAP and Legal Tracker. Background in law and technology preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
