Specialist Medical Practitioner - Correctional Primary Health

The role:Support the Statewide Specialty Director and the Assistant Director of Nursing in the development and provision of primary clinical health services.Assist the Statewide Specialty Director in the provision of clinical leadership and direction for Correctional Primary Health Services in the area of Primary Health care.Clinical governance and legislative requirements determine clinical direction and are the responsibility of the medical profession in provision of the standard and quality of care.Position Features:The job is located within a maximum-security prison and will work within site locations across the state of Tasmania. The occupant will have regular daily contact with prisoners in an environment which requires all staff to be alert to any matter concerning the security and safety of the prison, prisoners/detainees and staffSome Interstate and Intrastate travel may be requiredThis position involves regular on call work which is divided equally between the medical workforce including the Statewide Specialty DirectorNote: - Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.Details of AppointmentPermanent full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary: $210,000 - $301,349 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

• Access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Levels 1, 2 and 3 as described in the Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award.
• Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.

Eligibility:Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria: * Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable: * Experience in a custodial environmentThe Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted: * Conviction checks in the following areas:

• crimes of violence
• sex related offences
• serious drug offences
• crimes involving dishonesty
• Identification check
• Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
