About the role:
PIMHS is a specialist perinatal Mental Health service for parents (and their infants) with a severe, acute, or complex mental illness, or are at imminent risk of relapse/episode and who are pregnant or have a child under the age of two. PIMHS provides time limited, intensive specialist Perinatal and Infant Mental Health support, either provided through direct patient care or consultation for a range of severe or complex perinatal Mental Health disorders including severe depression and/or anxiety, postpartum psychosis, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, complex trauma and personality disorders. PIMHS works alongside the allocated Mental Health Clinician and collaboratively with adult and Infant/child health services to support care for both parent and Infant. PIMHS has a key role in establishing key care pathways and referrals to ongoing providers in the community.

Alongside the multi-disciplinary clinical supports of the Mehi Adult Mental Health Team including direct line management, you will also be supported by broader PIMHS HNE Team including a Perinatal Consultant Psychiatrist, CAMHS Special Program Coordinator and 6 other PIMHS Clinicians (via weekly PIMHS team meetings + supervision via telehealth). The position has professional responsibility to the appropriate HNELHD Mental Health Head of Discipline and will be linked into discipline specific supervision and supports. You will also have the opportunity to be linked to the Statewide PIMHS clinicians – through the annual PIMHS Conference (Nov), and supported locally to engage in education opportunities specific to your role.

Where you'll be working:

  • You can choose your base location - Moree, Inverell or Narrabri!
  • Experience a great quality of life amidst stunning natural surroundings while showcasing your rehabilitation experience.
  • Mehi Mental Health Service is a multidisciplinary service comprising of three community sites in Moree, Inverell, and Narrabri. The team consist of Psychiatrist, Social Worker, Psychologist, Registered Nurse and Occupational Therapist.

About you:
We are seeking an emotionally intelligent, client centred, passionate and enthusiastic Senior Clinician – who has the ability to support the needs of parents and their infants who are experiencing acute Mental Health. Expert interpersonal relationships will be key in this role, in order to optimise care provision. This position sits within the local Adult Mental Health Team (Mehi), with joint leadership support between HNELHD CAMHS and local Adult Mental Health team. This position will be the sole PIMHS position (and first ever PIMHS role in Mehi – so you will be involved in establishing the role across the district and supporting the evaluation of the need for ongoing PIMHS). Though this position sits solely in the Mehi Sector, you will be embedded in the Mehi Adult Mental Health Team for clinical governance and day-day support and see parents alongside their allocated Mental Health Clinician. Please note this is a Mehi-wide role – though the permanent location of the role is negotiable (across Mehi), there will be an expectation of travel to support the parents across the whole of the area, alongside appropriate use of telehealth where applicable.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a qualification: Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental health, Djirruwang Program) which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association / provisional or general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Eligible to drive in NSW and willingness to travel for work purposes.

Benefits:

  • Four weeks annual leave (pro-rata for part-time employees)
  • Superannuation contributions 11%
  • Salary packaging
     - Up to $9k for living expenses + $2.6k meal & entertainment + Novated leasing.
