As a Specialist Strategic Water Planning in the Water Strategy team at Rio Tinto Iron Ore, you'll be at the forefront of developing and implementing Strategic Water management plans across our Pilbara iron ore operations and ports. This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with a diverse and passionate team, change the way we approach water management, and spearhead innovative solutions to meet RTIO's long-term operational and water stewardship goals.

Reporting to the Principal Strategic Water Planning, you will:

  • Be the water strategy subject matter expert: Provide expert guidance and support on water strategy aspects of mine development and closure studies.
  • Develop Strategic Water plans: Lead the development of Regional Strategic Water Plans, ensuring alignment with Rio Tinto's water stewardship goals.
  • Bridge the gap: Integrate water management decision-making across different operations, mine developments and closure studies.
  • Coordinate water balance planning: Support the business in developing long-term water balance projections for mines and ports, aligned to the 10Yr water management planning and Strategic Water forecast processes.
  • Collaborate and connect: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and innovative water management culture.
  • Embrace lifelong learning: Continuously learn and improve, staying abreast of evolving water management technologies and regulations.

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in a related science/engineering discipline (water focused study experience considered).
  • A current manual WA Driver's license.

Where you'll be working

You will be Perth based with opportunity to work flexibly from home combined with time in our Central Park offices. The team actively encourages and supports flexible work. This includes workdays, hours and location, in addition to flexible and part-time work schedules. Occasional site travel will be required.
