About the program:AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace. About the role:The Specialty Engineering Lead provides technical leadership on the Specialty Engineering IPT for the planning for each Specialty Engineering discipline as required by requirements while meeting all contractual requirement obligations such as compliance to standards, certification and assurance to support system design certification.Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:Actively leading the agile design required by SEIT and product teams, including the development of requirement, design and test rationale and the implementation of testing whilst overcoming project technical issues within an agile team environmentWith a focus on cost and schedule, working with a broad set of Subject Matter Experts, distributed product teams, and suppliers to achieve Specialty Engineering delivery outcomesEnsuring each disciplines’ planning is defined, approved and followed including the establishment of formal working groupsWorking with the Systems Engineering team to establish Specialty Engineering requirementsWorking with product teams to ‘design for’ allocated Specialty Engineering requirementsEnsuring that Program has the specialty team, including skillsets, to deliver on requirementsLeadership of, and working with, peers in a multi-site and multi-time zone (AU and US) teamResolving problems identified during development, system integration and test of products About you:To be successful in securing this position, you will have:Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution, and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry) Extensive knowledge of System Engineering process, procedures and the overall engineering product lifecycleStrong experience in one of the specialty disciplines - associated methodology, techniques, standards and certificationsAdvanced experience leading successful outcomes in a large delivery teamAdvanced experience working and leading contractual processes and deliverablesExcellent ability to apply experiential judgement and lateral approaches to complex problem solvingControl Account Management (CAM) including an understanding of Earned Value ManagementExcellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare and present concise reports, briefings and updatesAn Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information How we reward and support you: At Lockheed Martin Australia, we empower you to be your best.
