The Role:
As a Speech Pathologist, you will play a pivotal role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication and swallowing disorders. You will work closely with clients and their families to develop personalised treatment plans aimed at maximizing functional abilities and enhancing quality of life.
Specialing in providing comprehensive speech therapy services tailored to the unique needs of each client, promoting their independence and overall well-being.
- Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate clients' speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing abilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, client goals, and evidence-based practice.
- Provide direct therapy services to clients to improve speech, language, articulation, fluency, voice, and swallowing skills.
- Utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques and modalities to address communication and swallowing challenges.
- Educate clients and their families on communication strategies, exercises, and techniques to facilitate progress and carryover of skills.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, educators, and other therapists, to coordinate care and optimize outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of evaluations, treatment sessions, and progress notes.
Essential Criteria:
- Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Full AHPRA Registration as a Speech Pathologist.
- Registration or ability to become registered with SPA.
- Prior experience working with individuals across the lifespan and with a variety of communication and swallowing disorders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with clients, families, and team members.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in the field.
- Current driver’s license and car.
- A National Police Clearance, Working With Children/Working with Vulnerable People Check.
