About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Grade 2Speech Pathologist to join our large, dynamic and friendly Speech Pathology team at Grampians Health - Horsham. The Speech Pathology team provides services across acute, sub-acute, residential, community programs and school readiness funding for patients of the Wimmera region presenting with a broad range of communication and swallowing disorders. The team has a strong focus on quality improvement, mentorship and supervision and supports ongoing personal and professional development with a formalised supervision program.
As a Grade 2Speech Pathologist you will have experience and knowledge in the provision of Speech Pathology services for children. This position is primarily allocated to our paediatric programs and will involve the provision of clinical speech pathology services in the inpatient, outpatient and community settings. Specific duties include the assessment, diagnosis and management of paediatric clients presenting with communication and swallowing disorders across inpatient and outpatient settings. Duties also include the delivery of our School Readiness program with a focus on capacity building for kindergarten educators.
Opportunities also exist to work across our adult streams and in specialty clinic areas of videofluoroscopic swallow studies and paediatric feeding.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality speech pathology services across a diverse paediatric caseload in our admitted and community settings
  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advocacy for Grampians Health clients as you move across paediatric caseloads
  • Actively engage in formal training, regular supervision, reflective practice opportunities, on-the-job learning and development activities within the targeted supervision program
  • You will also support the senior staff to enhance team building and excellence within the team and Allied Health.
Skills and experience
  • Degree in Speech Pathology
  • Practising membership with Speech Pathology Australia
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Sound knowledge and experience in assessment, treatment and management options for paediatric clients presenting with a broad range of communication and swallowing difficulties and a demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge in the inpatient, outpatient and community setting
  • Knowledge and skills in working within a capability building and coaching role with early childhood educators and families to promote skills and knowledge in child development
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and actively participate in quality improvement activities, and positively influence change as required
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and empower others through supervision, modelling and training
  • Evidence of a commitment to ongoing learning
