The Sports AerodynamicsEngineer will deliver best practice aerodynamics performance engineering todeliver credible gains in athlete performance at the highest levels of sport.The Sports Aerodynamics Engineer will play a key role in the daily operation,trouble shooting and maintenance of the Australian Centre for Sports Aerodynamics’ windtunnel equipment to ensure accurate and repeatable tests delivering bestpractice in test design, execution and reporting. By interpreting trends anddeveloping understanding, the role will be responsible for creating innovativeengineering solutions to real problems and make a tangible contribution toAustralian sport.
- The Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Management Program.
- The Incumbent may be assigned to another position at this remuneration level or equivalent.
- This role requires a working with children check.
Essential Conditions
- Postgraduate qualification in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or other related field (essential).

The Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing (ORSR) is the lead agency for the Government’s policy on sport and active recreation. ORSR is responsible for State Government policy and legislation as it relates to the sector, its key programs, sport and recreation infrastructure and funding programs. The ORSR supports sport and recreation organisations, Councils and the community through the development of policy, programs and resources, the provision of funding, recreation and sport planning, infrastructure development, elite sport pathways and programs, and the promotion of physical activity.
The Australian Centre for Sports Aerodynamics (ACSA)is a state-of-the-art, low speed, open-jet, open-return wind tunnel created todeliver world’s best sports aerodynamic testing, analysis, service, andscience. The ASCA is a SASI facility and program with significant investmentfrom the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). This nationally focused facilityhas been designed and constructed to support the objectives of high-performancesport in Australia prioritising performance success at Olympic, Paralympic andCommonwealth Games.
