Downer Defence is the lead contractor providing Estate Maintenance and Operation Services (EMOS) for the Department of Defence in Queensland and Southern New South Wales. As lead contractor within the region, we deliver a suite of services to support Defence capability. 

The Role

Downer is the lead contractor for the Estate Maintenance and Operation Services (EMOS) to the Department of Defence in Queensland and Southern New South Wales.  As lead contractor within the region, we deliver a suite of services to support Defence capability. 

The fulltime Sport and Recreation Leading Hand is responsible for supervising, administration & rostering Sport and Recreation employees, general pool and gym operations and surrounding amenities including shower and toilet facilities. Daily duties include:

• Conduct opening and closing procedures for the pool and gym facilities in line with process guidelines
• Conduct Lifeguard and Gym activities as required
• Ensure the pool and gym safety and rescue equipment is available at all times
• Oversee facility bookings including but not limited to pool, courts and external sports field facilities on behalf of members
• Ensure all staff shift times are recorded to align with payroll deadlines
• Ordering of products as required
• Rostering of employees
• Training and Assessment

Qualifications

• Current Resuscitation Certificate - Oxy Viva
• Suitability for Defence security clearance (Australian Citizenship Mandatory)
• Current Senior First Aid Certificate
• Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate
• Certificate 3 in Fitness (preferred)

Experience

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a lifeguard role
• Able to perform the inherent physical requirements of the role
• Positive attitude
• Customer service experience
