Our client is looking for a SQL Database Administrator to join a dynamic project team.
Responsibilities
- SQL Server DBA: Expertise in SQL Clustering, backup and recovery, monitoring, maintenance, SSRS, SSIS, and patching.
- AWS Infrastructure: Proficiency with SQL Server and other databases (Postgres/Aurora), supporting infrastructure, EC2, RDS, FSx, and S3.
- Azure Infrastructure: Experience with SQL Server and Azure managed databases.
Preferred (but not mandatory):
- Experience with Oracle on Exadata/Data Guard/Clustering/Containers/OCI.
- Experience working with outsource service providers.
- Familiarity with agile tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Ability to resolve complex problems involving database products.
- Assist in designing and implementing enterprise database monitoring and management products to ensure service availability.
- Assist in designing and implementing database backup, high availability, and disaster recovery technologies.
- Advise and provide recommendations and solutions to the Principal Team Leader (Database Services) on future direction, technical support, and issue resolution for database-related infrastructure and services.
- Develop and enhance procedures and processes within the Database Services team to improve the level of service provided to clients.
- Contribute to the development of policies within the database environments.
- Maintain knowledge of technical interdependencies within the database environments.
- Provide advice and guidance to software maintenance and project teams on data modeling and best practices for using database products.
- Provide advice, effective mentoring, and skills transfer activities to contribute to a high-performance Database Services team.
- Perform release and change management activities on behalf of the Database Services team.
- Provide database management skills for operational and business projects as required.
- Other duties as required.
- The role may have quarterly Key Performance Indicators to maintain.
- Current and varied experience across the public and private sectors is highly desirable. Ensure that any relevant skillsets meeting the role specifications are detailed in the candidate's application.
