ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role you take charge of overseeing the management of groundwater impacts and ensuring the well-being of our landholder, regulatory, and scientific communities. As a vital member of our team, you will play a key role in maintaining our social license to operate. Leverage your technical hydrogeological expertise to provide crucial support to various facets of the Origin business.

More about the role:
- Develop and Manage Monitoring Systems: Design and operate regional groundwater monitoring systems, ensuring comprehensive coverage to assess the impacts of CSG production and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and project approval conditions.
- Hydrogeological Impact Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of the hydrogeological impact of CSG operations. Interpret collected data, identify deviations from regional trends, and carry out follow-up investigations.
- Data Management and Assurance: Handle the storage, quality assurance, and accessibility of groundwater data, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Compliance Oversight: Guarantee compliance with state and federal conditions of approval and legislation.
- Beneficial use of treated CSG water: conduct operational reviews of aquifer injection schemes to ensure water management capacity and compliance with approval conditions.
- Support CSG Exploration and Development: Provide expert advice and technical support to operational teams for integrity assessments, pore pressure, subsidence, gas migration, water chemistry, sustainability reporting, landholder and community concerns;
- Legislation and Guidelines: Actively participate in the development of new legislation and guidelines at both state and federal levels, contributing to practical outcomes for the industry.
- Collaboration and Information Exchange: Engage in information exchange with the Office of Groundwater Impact Assessment, fostering collaboration and contributing to the industry's advancements.
ABOUT YOU
Embark on a fulfilling role where you'll serve as the go-to subject matter expert for our business. Your responsibilities will encompass the meticulous maintenance of compliance through monitoring, management, and reporting activities, ensuring adherence to all specified requirements. As a key player in our team, you will actively engage with government entities, industry partners, community stakeholders, research bodies, and internal teams. By educating and fostering awareness, you'll play a crucial role in promoting our license to operate and securing access to vital resources.
More about you:
- Degree qualified in a relevant field (hydrogeology, geology, environmental science, etc.)
- Expert-level understanding and skilled application of core hydrogeology concepts
- Proven experience in independently identifying business requirements and proposing solution pathways
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated track record of engaging with government, industry, community, research bodies, or other stakeholders
- Proven experience in meeting tight deadlines, working under pressure, and prioritising activities to ensure timely outcomes.
