Job description


The Department of Health is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Staff SpecialistClinical Lead Medical Emergency Response.
The Clinical Lead MER reports directly to the Director Department of Critical Care Medicine (DCCM) and has close links with the Recognising and Responding to Acute Deterioration (RRAD) standard committee and Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) Deterioration and Resuscitation Support Coordinator within the Office of the Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery Services (EDNMS)
The Clinical Lead MER is the delegated authority to manage the Medical Emergency Response team in accordance THS policy and administrative instructions as varied from time to time.
In managing the Service, the Clinical Lead MER will have due regard for the professional expertise and special knowledge of clinical staff members and will extend to them professional autonomy as is consistent with the effective management of the THS.
The occupant will be required to work under the broad direction of the Director DCCM.
The occupant will be required to work collaboratively with the Head of Department Emergency Department, Head of Department – Critical Care Medicine, Clinical Directors, Nursing Directors, Allied Health representatives, the Deterioration and Resuscitation Support Coordinator and with all other hospital, community and clinical services throughout Tasmania as required to promote safe and effective patient care.

Salary
$210,000 - $301,349 pro rata per annum
A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Levels 1, 2 and 3 as described in the Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award.
Period of Employment
Permanent part-time day work (with on call), working 40 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible

*Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Essential Requirements
Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
Conviction checks in the following areas:
Crimes of Violence
Sex Related Offences
Serious Drug Offences
Crimes involving dishonesty
Identification check
Disciplinary action in previous employment check
