San Miguel Yamamura Australasia (SMYA) is an established leader in packaging and contract wine filling in Australia and New Zealand.  We started as Cospak Pty Ltd over 40 years ago and today the company is a joint venture between two packaging leaders, San Miguel Corporation of the Philippines and Nihon Yamamura Glass of Japan.  

Part of the SMYA Group, Cospak Australia specialises in the design & supply of packaging solutions for many major household brands and across a wide variety of industries. 

The role:

With a long-standing history of Growth & Innovation, we have an exciting opportunity for a highly talentedState Manager to head up our SA team

Based in Wingfield and reporting directly to the General Manager Cospak Australia, the primary function of this role is to achieve profitable growth within the SA business, with full bottom-line accountability and responsibility for total branch performance across Sales, Customer Service and Warehouse Operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and execute the branch strategic business plans in line with company vision, mission and values.
  • Ensure financial profitability of the branch.
  • Provide sound leadership and develop branch personnel.
  • Plan, implement, and manage areas of responsibility to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Strategic growth of Cospak in SA across all market segments.
  • Pride yourself and the team in setting customer service excellence standards & expectations.
  • Cultivate effective business relationships with decision-makers in current and new accounts
  • Leading from the front by providing the sales team with hands-on support to achieve their budgets
  • Reporting and presenting on Branch people and performance

Skills and experience to be successful in the role include: 

  • Demonstrated sales performance, commercial acumen and analytical skills. 
  • Previous experience in the packaging industry will be highly regarded.
  • Credible and highly effective at negotiating and influencing at all levels, both internally and externally – especially B2B
  • Be able to challenge the current landscape and create growth with natural Business Development and networking skills.
  • High levels of strategic thinking to capture what’s next? 
  • Supply Chain knowledge essential
  • Strong people management and leadership experience including employee engagement, training and development, mentoring and coaching.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Sales/Marketing or related field Ideal.
  • Experience with SAP highly regarded - training provided
  • Demonstrated knowledge of market research, product and industry knowledge.
  • Open, inclusive and engaging communication style
  • A current driver’s license
