We have an exciting and challenging opportunity to the best suited applicant who will be the accountable individual to the Executive Director, Pathology Queensland (EDPQ). This position will expertly manage, lead and optimise enabling services which encompass digital infrastructure, assets, contracts, and procurement, all of which are integral to supporting the state-wide operations of pathology and public health services. To be successful you will ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of services delivered, contributing to the overall improvement of healthcare outcomes for the community.
The Operations Manager has accountability for approximately 15 high level FTE, Band 4 HR delegation, Band 5 financial delegation and a state budget of $5m recurrent budget and $60m capital.
In the near term, a key part of this role will involve supporting and developing the case for the replacement of key digital systems and developing a business intelligence function that will drive performance and inform decision making.

Proven ability as a leader in a diverse and complex scientific/health services organisation, with demonstrable experience in service planning, professional standard development, and policy change.
Demonstrated experience in strategic management of a medical and scientific health multi-disciplinary, diverse, high risk, state-wide service.
Demonstrated ability to lead, drive and focus the development of health care service strategy and advocate at the state-wide and national level.
A track record of ensuring organisation preparedness for emergency management and leading organisation wide incident management responses.
Extensive knowledge of the business enablement services that are required to deliver pathology (clinical and coronial) and public and environmental health services
Proven track record of building effective working relationships with executive team members and peers who are not in the line of command and that positively impact business performance.
Demonstrated high level state-wide knowledge and ability to manage the application of public health principles and to deliver quality, customer-focussed services.
Proven ability to manage resources and programs effectively, efficiently, and ethically.
Expert interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills and the demonstrated ability to foster effective and productive relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Proven ability to support staff through significant organisational change, ensuring at the same time that they remain focused on delivering on their core duties and responsibilities.
Demonstrated strategic-level human resource management skills across the operation of a complex, multi-disciplinary workforce.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
Appointment to this position requires, as a minimum, possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Science or Applied Science.
Postgraduate qualifications in business administration, public sector management or equivalent are desirable.
Travel may be a requirement of this role and the ability to operate a class C vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement is highly desirable. Some intrastate and interstate travel may also be required.
