Our client is a family-owned and managed cattle station just 40km from the North Qld township of Julia Creek. As part of their business, our client has asked us to find them a skilled Station Hand who has an MC licence and experience driving a grader (no need for a ticket). Working under the direction of our client, your time will be split between transporting various freight in the client’s truck or doing station work in between contracts.
General Duties:-
- Safe operation of MC road train configuration over sealed and station roads
- Safe loading of cattle, heavy machinery, general freight and hay for transport
- General service and routine maintenance of grader & truck and trailers
- Emergancy maintenance to fix break-downs to safely limp home without causing additional damage
- Safe operation of grader in line with manufacturer instructions
- Station work, including but not limited to:-General repairs and maintenance of station infrastructure, including water and fences
- General repairs and maintenance of station vehicles
- Mustering on horses and bikes in a safe and calm manner
- Working stock through cattle yards
- Running waters and putting out supplements
Our client offers self-contained single accommodation or a 3-bedroom fenced cottage for a family. However, no work is available for your partner, but being so close to Julia Creek, there may be work opportunities in town and a primary school is the hub of the town. If a single person applies, please note that there is a trick no pets policy due to the amount of overnight truck work involved.
