ABOUT THE ROLE
This position will support the development and delivery of future-oriented STEAM and Project-Based Learning programs at the Casey Tech School, located at the Berwick campus of Chisholm.
The STEAM Teacher’s primary function is to develop, teach, and facilitate the delivery of leading-edge STEAM-based, discovery, and innovation learning programs to students in the new Casey Tech School facility. Particular emphasis for this role is on providing technical expertise to support student learning in two or more of the following STEAM areas: Chemical Analysis, Biotechnologies, Digital Technologies, Automation, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Coding/Programming, CAD, 3D printing, Design Technologies, and Sustainable Practices.
This position requires experience working as a teacher in the secondary education or TAFE sector; however, the position may also suit a graduate teacher with contemporary educational experiences and related industry expertise. A passion for collaborative, project-based learning and significant expertise within the fields of science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM) is essential.
The incumbent will be a key and active participant of the Casey Tech School team who will ensure educational excellence, and student and stakeholder satisfaction, and will contribute to a motivated, effective, respectful team and working environment.
Your key accountabilities will be to:
- Plan and deliver sessions that engage learners in STEAM education
- Teach and facilitate curriculum programs to students on-site at Casey Tech School and off-site in partner schools
- Develop and deliver planned teaching sessions in a variety of innovative and adaptive ways, using technology, to engage learners and meet their needs and learning styles
- Develop, document and deliver Casey Tech School‘s cutting-edge, technology-rich, STEAM, project-based and problem-based curriculum programs
- Support the co-design of curriculum programs with the Tech School Teacher Champions and Partner School Teachers
- Support the embedding of curriculum programs on-site at Casey Tech School and within all Partner Schools across the region
- Create and maintain a safe and supportive learning environment that meets the needs of diverse learner cohorts.
ABOUT YOU
You will have Education qualifications such as a Graduate Degree or TAE Teaching Qualifications and qualifications in any of the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts or Maths disciplines.
The following skills and experience are essential:
- Demonstrated experience teaching STEAM disciplines within the educational sector
- Experience working in STEAM industry areas
- Experience working in collaborative teams, including team-teaching partnerships
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of contemporary education pedagogies, including Design Thinking and Project-Based Learning
- Strong interest in STEAM education and in innovative STEAM industry practices.
In addition to this you will enjoy working collaboratively within a diverse team, be highly motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
