Street Cleansing Labourer (Beach Services) • Permanent full-time roles based at our South Melbourne Depot• Salary Range Band 2 - $75,018 - $76,573 (Annualised salary inc. allowances & leave loading) plus 11% Superannuation• Hours of Work Mon–Fri, 4.00am - 12.00pm with a weekend and public holiday overtime roster About the OrganisationCity of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. City of Port Phillip has zero tolerance for child abuse and is a committed Child Safe organisation, so our selection process, which includes rigorous background checks, reflects our commitment to the protection of children from abuse.About the RoleOur Street and Beach Services team seeks an energetic team player who has a strong customer service approach and communication skills to deliver quality services to the community with a focus on environmental outcomes. The successful candidate will support the Supervisors Street and Beach Services to deliver the ongoing cleaning program of the city's streets, commercial areas and beaches. The Street Cleansing Labourer will be directly responsible for maintaining high standards of service to the community, complaint management, customer service ensuring performance standards are achieved. Proven experience within a similar labouring/cleaning industry undertaking driver/ labouring duties together with knowledge of OHS legislative requirements will be necessary in this role. Weekend and public holiday work will be required on a roster basis.The role will be primarily focused on all aspects of foreshore service operations.Duties:• Operation of all equipment required to complete tasks including but not limited to industrial vacuums, pressure cleaners, blowers, hand rakes, shovels and brooms• Perform manual handling tasks such as lifting, digging, raking, sweeping and using mechanical tools • Maintain roads, streets, beaches and drains within the municipality of Port Phillip• Remove and clean biohazards to ensure public safety• Remove and collect dump hard waste and rubbish throughout the citySkills and Experience• Extensive experience in an operational outdoor labouring role • Knowledge and experience in application of safe Manual Handling Techniques and Occupational Health and Safety standards including safe and competent operation of heavy licence vehicle• Good oral, verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders • Extensive experience in providing service response to customer requestMandatory Requirements• Pre employment medical check and Functional Capability Evaluation• Victorian Driver Licence, preferred Medium Rigid Vehicle Licence and Vic Roads Verification Security requirements and professional obligations Pre-employment screening will apply to all appointmentsPrior to a formal letter of offer, preferred applicants will be asked to provide:Evidence of mandatory qualifications/registrations/licencesSufficient proof of their right to work in AustraliaSufficient proof of their identityEvidence of COVID-19 Vaccination or valid medical exemption in line with City of Port Phillip Vaccination Policy Complete a National Police Check completed via City of Port Phillip’s Provider.Be required to undertake a pre-employment medical check (at the cost of the council)CulturePeople enjoy working at the City of Port Phillip because we are a welcoming, healthy and inclusive workplace.
