About the opportunity

The Vice President Students and Registrar (VPS&R) portfolio is responsible for Student Outreach services, Student Care & Support services, Student Administration and Admissions at Southern Cross University. The portfolio has a strong focus on the student experience and improving student success and retention at the University.

The Student Support Coordinator will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of a university-wide student safety action plan in collaboration with internal staff and student stakeholders. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Research and review sector developments for student safety and well-being, collaborating with University staff and collecting feedback from students to develop new resources and initiatives.
  • Evaluate existing policies and programs, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Coordinate online content promoting access to student health, safety, and well-being information.
  • Establish networks with external organisations to provide support and programs for student safety and well-being.

About you

You are a dedicated and experienced professional with a passion for Student Support and safety. More specifically, you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and three years’ experience in a Student Support role plus a Work Health and Safety certification or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Experience in project management from initiation to completion, with high-level reporting and data analyses skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of the safety support and wellbeing issues impacting domestic and international university students.
  • Strong communication skills, including experience responding to situations where people may be in distress.

Salary and benefits

  • Full-time, continuing (permanent)
  • Located at either Gold Coast or Lismore. Generous relocation support available.
  • HEW Level 6. The base salary ranges from $ 88,301 - $ 96,849 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $113,313.
