Our Opportunity

Work Location: Fortescue's Pilbara Study Locations

Roster: 8D/6R or 7D/7R or 14D/14R Days Only

Reporting to the Studies Field Supervisor, the primary function of the Studies Field Technician is to support the Studies Field Supervisor in obtaining all required baseline data for the Studies Approvals Process. Additionally, they will assist in optimising the safe utilisation of earthworks machinery.

Key Responsibilities

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Provide all necessary support to the Project Superintendent and Field Supervisors in delivering earthwork scopes.
  • Assist in the Installation and Maintenance of water supply and water monitoring assets.
  • Assist as directed with any works that will support the timely delivery of all Approvals scopes such as Heritage, Environment, Surface Water, Hydrogeology and Engineering.
  • Assist with the supervision and mentoring of VTEC Trainees.
  • Complete data entry for cost tracking and sample analysis purposes.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and skills required:

  • HR, Rigging and Dogging, Crane Operations and Remote Pilot License qualifications will be highly regarded.
  • Must be comfortable with Helicopter based work.
  • Earthmoving Tickets, and a high mechanical aptitude will be advantageous.
  • Extensive Pilbara fieldwork experience with the ability to safely operate in remote and isolated locations for extended periods.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with Traditional Custodians and Indigenous team members.
  • Microsoft Office, acQuire, ARC GIS, Trimble and associated GPS software.
  • Understanding and Application of the Fortescue LUC and Heritage Compliance Process.
  • Class C manual WA driver's licence at a minimum.
  • Current 4WD and Senior First Aid certificates
