About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a Subcontracts Specialist to join our Functions based at Osborne reporting to the Senior Subcontracts Manager

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

You will be responsible to the major subcontracts to meet the project requirement of cost, quality and delivery through effective commercial management whilst facilitating strong engaging relationship with the supplier, their supply chains as well as internal stakeholders.

This includes supporting the implementation of BAE Systems subcontract policies and practices including the assurance of adherence to function governance requirements. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the commercial management of subcontracts through effective commercial and correspondence administration including milestones, claims, notices/letters, flow down of contract amendments
  • Coordinate and support the resolution of contractual issues and disputes and effectively administer/monitor subcontract variations
  • Proactively manage the performance of suppliers to meet the contractual requirement from schedule, cost and quality perspective
  • Facilitate and maintain effective working relationship with subcontractors and lead the commercial subcontract meetings to ensure maintenance of interface with the subcontractor
  • Generate and manage lifecycle management of procurement subcontract management plans and ensure that emerging risks are identified, costed and monitored
  • Implement and follow the procurement policies and processes ensuring the compliance of relevant acts, legal demands and ethical standards

About YOU

  • Demonstrated experience in subcontract, procurement or commercial management preferably in defence or engineering organisations
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical skill with an experience in contract negotiation/correspondence administration
  • Strong communicator with an ability to engage effectively with wide range of stakeholders and customers with an ability to show initiative, prioritise and meet deadlines
  • An ability to show initiate, prioritise and meeting deadlines coupled with an ability to progress issues and resolve actions within a project team environment
  • Whilst not essential, degree qualification in commerce, law, project management or engineering with professional procurement qualification like MCIPS accreditation is desirable
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
