Flinders Medical Centre are looking for an Administration Officer to join the Aboriginal Clinical Services!About the Role:A great opportunity to work as a team member in SALHN to support the Aboriginal Clinic in DASSA. The APY Substance Misuse Worker is responsible for the delivery and evaluation of a culturally sensitive and comprehensive specialist alcohol and other drug service to Aboriginal people living on the APY Lands with drug related problems, their families and significant others by undertaking assessment, counselling, group work, evaluation and client follow-up, provision of information advice and assistance to the communities on the APY Lands. Some tasks may include:
  • Assessing the individual and social needs of clients seeking access to the APY Lands Program.
  • Using culturally accountable practices that respect Aboriginal lifestyles, values, identity and culture.
  • Contributing to the development of programs, targeted strategies, information and education for people living in the APY Lands affected by Substance Misuse (inclusive of family members) either at the Facility or in Community.
  • Providing support, information and advocacy to community groups to address A&OD issues.
  • Liaising with relevant people and services with regards to issues which may impact on the delivery of services to the Aboriginal Community.
About you:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people.
  • Ability to facilitate planned care for Aboriginal clients in a community setting.
  • Ability to provide effective and sensitive advice and assistance to people in crisis and conflict situations or other hardship.
  • Ability to make professional judgements based on sound assessment skills.
  • Ability to facilitate planned care for Aboriginal clients in a community setting.
