Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue Centre. Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
Roster: Monday to Friday or 4/3
Reporting to the Manager OPF and Port control the Fixed Plant Control Superintendent is accountable for managing the daily operation of fixed plant and processing assets remotely from our Perth control room. The role will be accountable for ensuring continuous improvement and evolution of Operating Methodology focused on the delivery of highly skilled teams able to drive a continued uplift in processing productivity.
The position will oversee the coordination of the OPF and Port control Team to ensure they deliver all prior agreed upon rates, metrics, KPI's and processes to the required standard at the agreed upon time across Fortescue.
Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of control room operators, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Technical Expertise: Possess a deep understanding of the technical aspects of control room operations, including but not limited to process control, monitoring systems, emergency response protocols, and regulatory compliance.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the control room, ensuring compliance with established procedures, protocols, and safety standards.
  • Project Management: Take ownership of projects from inception to completion, driving them forward with a high level of accountability and attention to detail.
  • Performance Monitoring: Implement performance metrics and KPIs to track the effectiveness and efficiency of control room operations, making data-driven decisions to optimize performance.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities within the control room environment and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
  • Collaboration: Foster strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, engineering, and production, to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains within the control room.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in control room or operations environment, with a proven track record of leadership and project management.
  • Strong technical aptitude and proficiency with control room systems, software, and monitoring tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a large team.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability, take ownership of projects, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Proven track record of working effectively in a 24-hour rotating roster environment.
  • Certification in relevant areas such as process control, emergency response, or project management is a plus.
