We are now seeking expression of interest for the position of Supervisor – Cranes & Compressors for a FIFO position based at our Lihir Gold Operation (LGO). Reporting to the Superintendent – Mechanical, you are required to supervise the daily activities of the maintenance team with a strong focus on site Fixed Cranes & Compressors to ensure optimum plant equipment availability and reliability is achieved in a safe & timely manner.

The role will have responsibility to:

• Lead by example with Department Safety – Through conducting CCV Safety Interactions, coaching, & ensuring incidents are reported & investigated.
• Drives and influence proactive safety behaviours within workgroups through visible safety leadership.
• Monitor the development requirements of the team against the required competency and arrange training and coaching to meet development needs.
• Understand the daily plan & prioritise the work for the Team.
• Assign Tasks to Team, so work is done safely & effectively.
• Adjust the work of the Team only within the limits of my authority.
• Monitor the work of team members through the shift, ensuring they follow work procedures & safely do quality work.
• Understand & monitor the effectiveness of the procedures, policies & processes that the Team use in their daily work and raise any concerns or opportunities with Superintendent.
• Give feedback to & coach the Team Members so they perform their work safely & productively.
• Fully participate in effective shift handovers with incoming and outgoing peers.
• Keep a diary of significant events & report incidents.
• Support planners in detailed scope development when required.
• Assists in the management of SOP creation, review, training and updates, Shift Reports and SAP work request lodgements.

Essential criteria

Ideally, our preferred applicant will have;

• Relevant Mechanical Level 3 Trade Certificate or Mechanical Degree Essential.
• Certificate in Workplace Assessment and Training or similar desirable.
• Post Trade / Degree Training & Development in Fixed Cranes or Industrial Compressors.
• 5+ years’ experience in mineral processing environments including large-scale fixed assets.
• 3 + years of demonstrated Supervisory skills to coordinate staff in a technically challenging and remote work environment.
• Experience in shutdowns and maintenance projects.
• Excellent verbal, written & communication skills.
• Computer proficiency SAP and in MS Office suite.
• Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.

The Requirements

• Must be available for FIFO to Lihir
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
• Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
